Refuse collection delays expected in some areas due to impact of protests

Residents in Delft, Mfuleni, Khayelitsha and Kraaifontein are advised of possible refuse collection delays because recent protests have impacted on staff and vehicle movement in these areas.

The service is experiencing delays because volatility has affected the movement of refuse collection vehicles, which also has a knock-on effect on the overall collections schedule. Some of our staff also live in these areas and the unrest has impacted on their ability to get to work.

Every effort is being made to service refuse bins as soon as possible and to return to the usual servicing schedule.

Attempts will be made to service the backlog of refuse removal in these areas this weekend.  This will be dependent on whether it is safe to do so.

During this time, residents should please continue to take their bins out every day until these are serviced. Bins can be left out until 21:00 every day, however, the teams will not be able to service bins after sunset in areas that are volatile.
